The members of the Mercer County Sustainability Coalition work together to hold a number of events annually.  These include the Living Local Expo and the Farm to Table Dinner.  During the past seasons, informational sessions were held on the County’s recycling program and Sustainable Jersey for Schools.  Look for more offerings as we begin planning for the coming year.

The Living Local Expo is held each year in March and celebrates and promotes local businesses and community groups, the arts, as well as holding cooking demonstrations, hands on workshops and presentations.   The Farm to Table Dinner, held each year at Terhune Orchards, showcases the best of Mercer County’s farms, produce and restaurants for us all to enjoy at this event that supports the Mercer Sustainability Coalition.  More information about each of these annual events is available at our Living Local Expo and Farm to Table pages.

LLELogoThe 10th annual Living Local Expo: Being Green Pays Off, was held on March 19, and featured sustainable local businesses and community organizations, local farms, cooking demonstrations, as well as hands-on workshops, and informational speaker presentations. The popular free event celebrated it’s tenth anniversary this year.

This year’s Expo was held at a new venue, in the Rider University Gym on Lawrenceville Road in Lawrence. The event was free and open to the public. More than 60 eco-friendly vendors at the Expo were present and visitors heard from speakers on a variety of sustainability issues ranging from local school gardening and science projects, to the future of transportation, to recycling in Mercer County and more.

Local school representatives and organizations came to inform about projects like new biking paths, walking trails, food waste recycling, wellness, fitness, and other community projects.
