chargingstation

We are delighted to report that Hopewell Township recently received a $5000 grant to support the installation of a Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Station at the Township Municipal Building. The grant is part of a joint New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Board of Public Utilities program to support the state’s “Drive Green New Jersey” initiative. “This is sort of a no-brainer because we have conduit already set up and it is a perfect fit,” said Township Administrator Paul Pogorzelski.  The Township will work with members of the Hopewell Valley Green Team to design and promote the new charging station.

The Workplace Charging Grant Program provides grants to employers to offset the cost of purchasing and installing electric vehicle charging stations. This program is designed to support and encourage employees to purchase and drive electric vehicles to work, which reduces vehicle emissions.

Upon completion of work in accordance with the eligibility criteria, NJDEP will reimburse each applicant as follows:

  • Up to $250 per Level 1 charging station; and
  • Up to $5,000 per Level 2 charging station.
