Legislative Action: In March of this year the New Jersey Senate passed a bill (S864) that would ban single use bags and styrofoam containers. If the bill becomes law, NJ would become the first state to ban both single use plastic and paper bags. The bill must also pass the Assembly. If this is an issue that is important to you, contact your legislator and ask them to support state bill A1978 and to advocate for action on this important issue this year. While we wait for action at the state level, 57 municipalities in New Jersey have taken action to ban single use plastics. #PlasticFreeJuly
